Charlene Bernadette Cove, age 82, of Longview, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025. A former residence of Clayton, Mrs. Cove was born in Worster, MA on January 13, 1943, to the late George G. Neil and Beatrice N. Shurick.

Survived by her adoring husband, John D. Cove; one brother Danny Shurick; seven beautiful children, Mark Paul Lafleche, Lesley Ann Amburg (Michael Amburg) and Amy Kristine Begonis (Tom Begonis), Kenneth John Cove, Pamela Jeanne Rawson (Kenneth Rawson) Dianna Lynn Cove and Michelle Lee Ayres (Thomas Ayres); 11 loving grandchildren, Shawn Amburg, Cameron Lafleche, Gillian Lafleche, Elizabeth Schrag, Melissa Strauchman, Cody Cove, Rebekah Ayres, Caroline Scroggins, Nathaniel Ayres, Sarah Gwaltney and Christopher Rawson. A multitude of precious great-grandchildren, Matthew Strauchman, Jayden Cove, Bradley Strauchman, Kenny Wayne Gwaltney, Weston Gwaltney, Shelby Gwaltney, Naomi Rawson, the brand new Caleb Scroggins and soon to be Baby Schrag. Charlene is also survived by her precious little puppy, Abbey.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sisters, Iris Towle and Cynthia Hughes; one brother, Charles J. Shurick.

Charlene loved life and had talents and titles for many things. Floral designer, baker and cake decorator, custodial manager, bank employee, hospital volunteer and her most treasured title of pastor’s wife of her loving John Cove. Charlene’s main desire in this life is “Christ would receive all glory and the gospel be preached to my very end”. Charlene was a faithful member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and when she moved to Texas she joined Camille Acres Missionary Baptist Church with her newest best friend and son in law, Thomas Ayres, as her pastor.

Memorials may be made to any of the four following foundations that she loved…1) Tunnel to Towers 2) Folds of Honor 3) Mount Moriah Baptist Church Building Fund (3000 E Garner Road, Raleigh, NC, 27610) or 4) Camille Acres Baptist Church Building Fund (2920 Gilmer Road, Longview, Texas, 75604).

A visitation for Charlene will be held Monday, April 28, 2025 from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 3000 E Garner Rd, Raleigh, North Carolina 27610. A funeral service will occur Monday, April 28, 2025 at 2:00pm, 3000 E Garner Rd, Raleigh, North Carolina 27610. An interment will occur Monday, April 28, 2025 at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Clayton, NC.
