CLAYTON – CHARLES HENRY JONES, age 87, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
No formal service is planned, however the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at McLaurin Funeral Home.
He was born in Johnston County on May 31, 1934 to the late Cedric Jones and the late Rena Hill Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Shanna Bullock, brothers; W.D. Jones, Jeff Jones and Boyd Jones and sisters: Topsy Penny and Geraldine Deans.
Mr. Jones was a Veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Bayer Pharmaceuticals.
Charles loved his family above all else. Even in his sickness, he would ask “How is Barbara?”. He showed his love for the family in countless ways – supporting the grandkids in all their sports endeavors and anything else they had going on, cooking meals, helping out with whatever you needed even if you didn’t ask, and always making sure you had what you needed and more. He loved playing cards and his family has fond memories of mostly losing to him unless you were the lucky one to be his partner. He loved all games of chance including the lottery which it seemed Lady Luck favored him. His family will miss him and his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Barbara Deweese Jones; children, Lynn Cieri and husband Kit, Cindy Morgan and husband Jack; grandchildren, Briana and Mark Powell, Kaylee Morgan and Harrison Cieri, great grandchildren, Piper Powell; and sister, Irene Godwin.
