

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, North Carolina with Reverend David Sutphin officiating at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 30, 2024. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm, just prior to the service.
Charles was born in Amityville, New York on April 28, 1945, to the late Theodore Wendland and the late Georgina Brooks Wendland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ted and his sister Joan.
Charles retired from the construction business and enjoyed being a member for 60 years in the Lindenhurst Volunteer Fire Dept., Woodworking, Boating, Camping, Traveling and the Beach.
Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine Perretta Wendland; children; Charles, Charlotte, Gina, Scott, Cathy, Rob; 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren
