Colleen Suzanne McCoy Robins, age 53, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at her home in Clayton, NC. Born on August 5, 1972, in Detroit Michigan, she was a daughter to William Reed McCoy Jr. and the late Mary Louise Bradel McCoy.
Colleen graduated from The University of Michigan in 2005 with a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. She was a security supervisor at sports and music venues in Michigan for 10 years. Colleen then worked with child protective services in Michigan and was a rape advocate on and off for years. She became an esthetician in the last 14 years of her life while staying home to help her husband David get through his education and care for the home and their children and animals. Colleen had a love and a passion for skin health and beauty and enjoyed what she did.
She attended Crosspointe nondenominational Christian church. In her free time, Colleen was a part of numerous skin, beauty, and health clubs and enjoyed redoing home things on a dime, reading, her animals, and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She loved nothing more than FaceTime with the grandkids and hearing them do what she called the Gigi song, it made her smile from ear to ear every time. She was extremely passionate about animal rescue and resources, and loved décor, skin, beauty and fashion. Colleen is witty, funny, loving, protective, strong, giving, stylish, beautiful and an opinionated person in the best way. She was honest and adventurous at heart. She and her loving husband, David, were together for 30 years filled with love, friendship, partnership, raising kids, and animals. They chose each other every day and did everything together. Every moment of life’s ups and downs spent by each other’s sides was amazing and irreplaceable. Colleen will be missed deeply every second of every day by her family. She made them all better just by knowing her.
Colleen is survived by her husband David Robins; son, Robert McCoy along with his wife, Nicole and son, Connor; daughters, Kayla Farley and her husband Paul, and Emily Woolever and her husband, Tim, and their two children, Wyatt and Hudson; her father and mother, Bill and Reta McCoy, and many other relatives spread throughout Michigan and across the country.
There will be a small private celebration this Friday in North Carolina for Colleen’s husband and children only.
The family will hold a celebration of Colleen’s life at a future date in Michigan.
Donations to your local non-kill animal shelter, and/or domestic violence support facility would be something Colleen would have loved for people to support in lieu of sending flowers or gifts. We love you all and God bless you.
