Dennis (Big D) was born on August 17, 1950 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to John and Mary (Pollock) Sabo.
He graduated from German Township High School. After graduation, he worked as a deckhand on coal barges traveling the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. He worked for 30 years as a coal miner in various mines in Pennsylvania and was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA).
Dennis was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and was affectionately Pap Pap to his “favorite” granddaughter and grandson. He loved his family beach week, dinners with family and friends, watching his children and grandchildren in their various sports and activities, his favorite TV shows, and playing Wordle and Candy Crush. Dennis was a life-long Steelers fan, win or lose. Dennis never met a stranger and was able to carry on conversation with anyone he met.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Dale.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Janice (Felio) Sabo; his sons, Eric (Jenn) Sabo; Jeremy (Lauren) Sabo; grandchildren Adelie and Julian Sabo; his brother Jonathan (Aberdeen) Sabo; and many other loving relatives.
Services are private and under the direction of McLaurin Funeral Home of Clayton, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, share your favorite meal with your family or friends and share a memory of Dennis.
