

Edward Beattie, 26, passed away October 25, 2015. Edward was a beloved husband, son, and brother. Edward was born in Scotland and moved to the United States with his mother and stepfather. Ed excelled at sports through junior high and high school, and after graduation from Clayton High School in 2008 he joined the Marine Corps and served two tours of duty in Afghanistan with the Third Battalion Eighth Marines. Edward was then stationed at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Weapons and Field Training Battalion as a range coach and boat crew member. Edward was awarded the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Medal twice, the NATO Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal three times and the National Defense Service Medal. He always was a big brother for everyone and a friend to all. Edward is survived by his wife, Nicole Beattie; mother Alison Kilgore and stepfather, Timothy; sister, Mckeighla; grandfather, Stanley Strachan; mother in law, Nancy Kelly; father in law Mark Delevie; and a brother in law, Matthew Delevie. His contagious smile and warm bear hugs will be sorely missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 3:00 PM, in the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel, 12830 US HWY 70 Business West, Clayton, NC 27520. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
