A memorial service for Edward will be held Friday, November 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM at McLaurin Funeral Home, 12830 Us 70 Business Hwy W, Clayton, North Carolina 27520.
Edward Earl Hill (Ed) was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a very giving man. He gave his time, 25 years, in serving his community on the rescue squad as a paramedic. He gave all he had to support his wife and children. Ed was a loving man; he loved with all of his heart. He loved his family with a fierceness that could not be matched.
The love that he shared with his wife was beautiful to behold. It was a timeless love story that lasted almost 50 years. Ed and Bea met and were married after only 2 short weeks of knowing each other. They said “I do” and never looked back. She called him “honey” and he called her “his bride” for all those years.
He was also a teacher. He taught his children how a man should treat a woman; through his love of his wife. He instilled in his children his belief that family should always come first. Ed taught his Grandchildren many things as well. He taught them to love the outdoors, how to hunt, and how to fish. He taught them to respect the American Flag, stand for the pledge of allegiance, and to always take your hat off at the dinner table and bow your head to pray. He was always the person that his children and grandchildren would go to when they had a problem, needed advice, or just to have a question answered.
Some of his favorite activities were watching NASCAR, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He could be found on Sundays in front of the TV watching a race with friends and family. During his healthy years he was often fishing at the coast and he hosted many fish frys. The “Honey Hole” was one of his favorite fishing places; he was often found there with friends and family. There were many summers spent camping at the campground, getting up early, and fishing all day. During the winter he liked to go to turkey shoots, and also to hunt with family.
Ed was saved about 20 years ago and re-dedicated himself to his Faith in Jesus. He was passionate about The Lord and would tell anyone he came across about the gospel. He read the Bible and was a firm believer in the written word. He loved Gospel Music and listened to it everyday.
His absence will be felt by all who knew him as he had a bigger than life personality. He touched many lives and will be fondly remembered by many. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He will be missed deeply and his family will continue to love him with all of their hearts.
