Elaine Eakes Coats

Ruth Elaine Eakes Coats, 91 went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Elaine was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a friend to all who knew her. She retired with a full career from the State Department of Motor Vehicles. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021, which is her birth date, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the entombment following at Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Elaine is survived by her sons, Timothy Coats of the Philippines and Michael Coats (Lynn) of Clayton, daughters, Cathy Mundy (Richard) of Selma and Sharon Fields (Jerry) of Benson, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Jones (Jaylon) of Benson and brother, Jerry Eakes (Shirley) of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jefferson Coats; daughter, Nancy Jo Coats and granddaughter, Michelle Mundy as well as both her parents, Millard Lee Eakes and Eva Land Eakes from the Old Drug Store/Cleveland School area, Garner, four brothers and two sisters. The family will receive friends on Sunday, prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 3000 E. Garner Road, Raleigh, NC and/or to SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, NC 27577.
