Francene was born in New York City on November 30, 1938 to the late Howard Graham and the late Madeline Graham Horter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Cynthia Graham, Christine Graham, Patricia Giannetta, and Royal Horter.
As a younger woman, she lived in Brooklyn and Long Island, New York, raising her children, while managing the Werner family glass business. She also lived in Camarillo, California for decades, working in sales and as a business manager, while serving as the president of the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce for several years. She was an active member in each of her communities and retired from Simba, Inc. in 2007.
After retiring and moving to Clayton, North Carolina, she continued to lead a wonderful life with her husband and happily traveled to New York often to participate in the lives of her extended family. Francene was a smart, strong, thoughtful, caring woman, who excelled at building and maintaining relationships and created a welcoming environment for everyone she met. She kept her mind busy as an avid reader and by completing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She loved good conversations with her family, friends, and neighbors. Francene had a talent for listening and sharing motivational stories to inspire others. She never stopped learning. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, traveling, finding shopping deals, visiting the casino, playing Scrabble, sitting on the porch, watching movies and TV mystery shows, and celebrating Easter festivities with family.
Francene is survived by her devoted husband Michael B. Dunn; children (and spouses) Cynthia Suarez (Bert), William Jr. Werner (Shannon), Stephan Werner (Maureen) and Michael Lang; grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Marco, Matthew, Michael, William III, Katherine, Cory, Casey, Jordan, Savannah, and Kaitlynn; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Marco Jr., Jax, Joseph, Damian, and Emilia; brothers and sisters, Paul Graham (Wendy), Ralph Graham (Patti), Susan Jean Campbell, Rocky Graham, Cathy Horter; and many nieces and nephews. Honestly, we’ll all be a little lost without her.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 2, 2022 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, North Carolina with Reverend David Sutphin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home until 1:00 pm. At a future date, there will also be a Memorial Service on Long Island, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Francene’s memory to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at https://www.cff.org/donate. Condolences may be made to the family at this on-line site: www.mclaurinatpinecrest.com.
