Fred Frank Giacco, Jr. age 78, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Fred was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 27, 1945 to the late Fred and Dorothy Rhode Giacco and lived in Yonkers, NY until moving to Clarksburg, MD in 1973. After graduation from the Yonkers High School of Commerce 1964 he enlisted in the USAF and served in Korea during the Pueblo Crisis rising to the rank of Sargent. Fred, a passionate sports fan and golfer loved his NY Giants and the NY Yankees. He worked at IBM in White Plains, NY and Bethesda, MD until 2003 when he retired after 30 years of service. In his retirement, Fred he enjoyed golf with his friends and family.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Charlene Farruggio Giacco; sons, Andrew Giacco and his wife, Lisa of New Windsor, MD, David Giacco of Clayton; brother, Paul Giacco and his wife Linda, of Rochester, NH; grandchildren, Andrew C. Giacco of Reston, VA, and Anthony Giacco of New Windsor, MD; sisters-in-law, Marie Lucushuk and her husband, John of Milford, CT, and Lois Bouchard and her husband, Stan of Cary; as well as many nieces and a nephew and a good family friend, Betty Miller.
A memorial Mass celebrating Fred’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 11:00am at St Eugene Catholic Church, 608 Lions Club Road, Wendell, NC. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton. A private committal service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 with military honors.
