George Ervin McLawhorn

Ervin was born on May 27, 1951 in Greenville, NC. He moved to Kinston, NC at a young age where he lived until a recent move to Clayton, NC to be closer to his children and grandchildren. While in Kinston, he met the love of his life Peggy Powell. They married on November 3, 1977.

Ervin had a strong faith and loved his family. Most importantly, he loved Peggy. The love between Peggy and Ervin was a love that many hope to attain and few achieve. The memories that his family will carry with them are filled with joy and happiness. He was always a kind man with a loving spirit. He never met a stranger and would’ve given you the shirt off his back no questions asked. Ervin was a constant figure in the lives of his six grandchildren whom he adored.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 41 years, Peggy; his four children and their spouses, Mark Eubanks (Chris) of Apex, NC, Christen Kallam (Terry) of Clayton, NC, Amanda Smith (Dave) of Clayton, NC, Jeremy McLawhorn (Tammy) of Clayton, NC; his father, Charles McLawhorn of Kinston, NC; grandchildren, Noah and Jacob Kallam, Aubrey and Abigail Smith, Kaylee and Lily McLawhorn; sister, Lorraine Carraway of Kinston, NC and brother in law, David Mills of Kinston, NC.

Ervin is preceded in death by his biological father, George Peed; his mother, Lurlene McLawhorn and his sister, Debbie Mills.
