Gladys Smith Medlin

Gladys Smith Medlin 84, passed away peacefully Friday December 12, 2015 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. She was born on July 2, 1931 in Johnston County daughter of Walter and Vashtie Yeargan. Gladys was preceded in death by the love of her life, Raymond Bayard Medlin who passed on October 14, 2015 and brothers, Parker Smith, Simon Smith, and sister, Ruby Moon.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 2:00p.m at McLaurin Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Lloyd Hargis officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00pm at the funeral home.

She worked at Wimpy Williams Store in Garner for years and also Belk's in Smithfield, loved working with people, and loved her home as well as the yard and pretty flowers everywhere and most importing loved her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Pryse, Rhonda Hill and husband, Mike, five grandchildren, Amy Smith and husband Stephen, Amber Jarman and husband, Brian, Michael Hill (Kristina), Brandon Hill ( Sara), Cameron Hill (Tessa), two great grandchildren, Kaci and Cole Smith and several nieces and nephews, sisters, Lois Hicks, Jeanette Mangun, Anne Ellis and brother, Wade Smith.

The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at Heartland Hospice and SECU Hospice House and we are very grateful for their loving care and support. A very special thanks for her caregivers Jammie Strickland and Arne Hauger for all their love and care for both Mom and Dad.
