Daughter of the late Oscar Jenkins Ross and Sarah Caughman Ross. Jeanette was born May 20, 1947 in Columbia, SC and was the middle sister of her three sisters. She was preceded in death by a younger brother, John Dove Foster. Jeanette loved her family unconditionally, never met a stranger and when you saw her and you could always expect a warm hug.
Jeanette grew up in the College Place/Greenview communities and received her spiritual guidance from Bethlehem Baptist Church (College Place). She attended Fairwold Elementary School and was a 1965 graduate of C A Johnson High School. While in high school she chose the vocation program at Booker T. Washington High School and because of her love for styling hair, she completed the cosmetology program.
Her first marriage ended in divorce and from this union her only child, Tara Lynnette was born.
She loved being around family, shopping, taking trips to Las Vegas with her sisters and spending summers with her grandchildren. Jeanette was so loved by her family and will be missed so much for her wit and all the energy she instilled throughout the family at family gatherings.
Most of her adult life was spent in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she met her husband of forty-two plus years, Henry. She was employed by the Continental Can Company in Milwaukee for many years before being employed by the Whitefish Bay School District of Milwaukee from which she retired in 2012.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Henry Marshall of Milwaukee, a loving daughter Tara (Isaac) Copeland, three adorable grandchildren, Isaac Jr, Preston and Pearce Copeland, three sisters: Frances Day of Accokeek, MD, Joanne (Emmanuel) Prioleau of Winnsboro, SC, and LaVon Ross of Columbia, SC; one aunt, Roberta Caughman, Columbia, SC, an adored niece Kori Day of Laurel, MD and other hosts of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of her life will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the McLaurin Funeral Chapel, 12830 U.S. 70 Business HWY W, Clayton, NC, 27520
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
