John Calvin “J.C.” Coats February 2, 1936 – December 26, 2014 CLAYTON – John Calvin “J.C.” Coats, age 78, passed away at his residence on Friday, December 26, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in the Lucas Family Cemetery in Roseboro, NC. He was a native of Johnston County and a son of the late Howard Augustus Coats and the late Flonnie Mae Lassiter Coats. He was the owner and operator of J.C. Coats Pluming and Repair. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Sallie Lucas Coats in 1987. He is survived by his two children; a son, John Walter Coats of Clayton, and a daughter, Jacqueline Coats Melton and husband Billy of Garner; two brothers, Charles Howard Coats and wife Barbara, Jerry Moore Coats and wife Phyllis, all of Clayton; sister, Mary Frances Coats Williams of Garner; three grandsons, John Faircloth, Franklin Melton and Darrell Melton; three great grandchildren and special friend, Laura Stephens of Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at the funeral home.
