Lucille Johnson Thomas

Funeral Sunday 1-13-2019 with visitation at McLaurin 2:00 – 2:45, funeral at 3:00p.m.

She was preceded in death by husband, Melvin Thomas.

She is survived by sons, Ronnie Earp, wife Kay Smith Earp of Clayton. Their sons, Will, wife Karen Parker Earp, daughter, Katie and son Kenny,

Sam Earp and wife Jennifer Zeigler Earp and daughter, Hannah and son Josh Zeigler.

Son David Earp, wife Joy Robinson Earp of Raleigh, son Army Capt. Colby J. wife Danielle, daughter Amelia and son Nash of Fort Riley, Kansas.

Step children Jean Thomas Whitley of Elm City. Son, Glen Upchurch, wife Tiffany and daughter Hunter. Tony Ray Thomas of Clayton, daughter, Ashely T. Williams, husband, Evan, son, Eli and daughter Nora.

Lucille was born into a loving family in 1932 to the late James Earnest and Ella Leatrice Hicks Johnson of the Kenly area with Moore’s Chapel Church being the center of family life. In her later years, she enjoyed collecting jokes that she told to friends at their request. She loved the Bojangles group in Clayton and never missed an opportunity to meet and eat there. We cannot forget the Wednesday group at Jones Café, each of you were her best friends!

Lucille’s surviving brothers and sisters;

Randell Johnson, Frances Eubanks, John Harold Johnson & Shirley, Ruby Parrish and Betty Jewel Godwin, Wilbert Johnson and Thelbert Johnson and Faye, Lois and Roy Barbour, Eunice Beasley, Everette and Lois Johnson, Robert Johnson, Raymond and Dee Johnson and Sarah and Eric Fuquay.

Preceded in death by older brothers; James Johnson, Julian Johnson and Ernest Junior Johnson. “Many” nieces and nephews survived.

Thank you to Hope Church where she joined in 1951 after moving to Clayton. You all have been comforting to the family since mother has been at Springbrook. Thank you Springbrook staff for helping mother remain comfortable in her last days. Ronnie and David want to thank the Johnson Clan of siblings for your vigal the last week of Mom’s Life.

You all have truly taught us the meaning of your families love for each other and we are blessed that you unselfishly shared this with us.
