Marie was born in Clayton to Charles E. and Bessie Pearl Blackmon on October 30, 1931. She was married to Jessie H. Carroll.
She retired from Glaxo Smith Kline and was an avid fisherwoman. She especially enjoyed fishing at the beach.
Marie is survived by sons, Roger and wife, Jean, Billy Blackmon and wife, Carol, and son, Randy; daughters Vickie and husband, Ricky Weaver, and Dianne and husband, Duane Barrett; daughter in law, Mary Beth Carroll; grandsons, Andy Barrett and Shane Carroll; granddaughters, Shannon, and husband Daniel Colavito, Jessica, and husband Jay Ward, Megan Barrett, Kimmy Weaver, and Sarah Weaver; and two great-grandchildren, Layla Colavito and Emmett Ward and sister, Nina Boyette.
Memorials may be made to an Alzheimer’s charity in Marie’s name.
Visitation will be held at McLaurin Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 8 at 12pm. A private graveside service will be held immediately following at Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton, NC.
