

Mildred Starling Gordon of Clayton, North Carolina died February 22nd, 2016. Mildred was born November 15, 1927 to the late John and Lillie Starling. After graduating from Clayton High School, she attended Hardbarger’s School Of Business in Raleigh, NC. In 1946, Mildred married the late Harvey B. Gordon. The couple made Clayton their home.
In the 1960’s, Mildred worked for Raleigh Savings and Loan. In the 1970’s, upon obtaining her Realtor, Broker and Appraiser’s Licenses, she and her husband, a residential contractor and developer, opened a joint business, Gordon Real Estate. Mildred spent the next thirty years excelling in the field she truly loved. After graduating from the Realtor’s Institute at the UNC School of Business in Chapel Hill, she taught real estate classes for Johnston Community College in Smithfield, NC. In 1981, she was elected President of the Johnston County Board of Realtors and was awarded Realtor of the Year.
Mildred is survived by two daughters, Brooke Hackney of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and Becky Gordon and husband, Steve Ferrell, of Clayton, NC, four Grandchildren, Adair Poole and her husband, Jose Romero, Michael, Davis, and Lawren Priest and one Great Grandchild, Daniel Romero.
