Lester Odell Wood, 87, an avid NC State fan and golfer passed away Tuesday December 15, 2015. A memorial service will be held 1:00 Friday, Dec. 18, at Way of Life Baptist Church. Mr. Wood retired with 31 years of service from NCSU. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and Odie. He was preceded in death by his first wife Louise G. Wood and is survived by his wife Ann Godwin Wood, daughters, Barbara Davis and husband Sandy of Tarboro, Dianne Hankins and husband Don of Statesville and Amy Durham of Clayton, grandchildren, Scott Davis and wife Kelley of Winterville, Kristen Davis of Cary, Adam Hankins and wife Meredith of Advance, Abby, Amelia and Caroline Durham of Clayton, great grandchildren, Riley and Reese Davis of Winterville, Colt and Luke Hankins of Advance, a brother, Roger Wood and wife Linda of Wilco Lake, his sister, Lorene Grissom and husband Billy of Garner. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday from 12-1:00 PM at Way of Life Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or to Way of Life Baptist Church, 2100 Harmony Court Clayton, NC 27520.
