Patricia Cox Hagood

Patricia Cox Hagood, age 76, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Patricia was born in Halifax County on August 21, 1947 to the late John and Gertrude Harrell Cox. She grew up in North Carolina and adored her maternal grandparents, Perry and Lillian Harrell, whom she talked about often. A high school basketball player, Patricia even drove the school bus. After marriage and having children, she would later move to Virginia where she became a top Realtor and made lifelong friends. She loved playing cards, making her family and friends their favorite meals and was on a bowling league. She never met a stranger, she easily made friends. A hard worker who always thought of others, she loved her cats and cared for all animals, having many dogs throughout her life. She loved watching Love it or List it-a Hilary Farr fan. She was a huge Duke Basketball fan and never missed watching a game, even knew the team stats. As her health declined, her spirit never did. She is now living in heaven with the king of kings and Lord of Lords as he had prepared a place for her, which is promised to all who believe. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her, until we meet again…

She is survived by her daughter, Juliette Leigh Troxler and husband, David of Clayton; son, William “Bill” Jonathon Leggett and wife, Paulette of Missouri; daughter, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Legget of Rich Square; grandchildren, Billy Leggett and wife, Hannah, Nicholas Leggett and wife, Jessie, Kylie Leggett and, Kade Troxler; brother, Charles Robert (Bobby) Cox and wife, Joanne; sister, Lillian Cox Daniels and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her brothers, John William “Billy” Cox and James Cox.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 2:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Patricia's name may be made to your local SPCA.
