Peggy was born in Clayton to Neta Batten Broadwell and Luther James Broadwell. She built a life rooted in kindness, faith, and devotion to family. In 1969, she was honored as Clayton’s Miss Centennial, a reflection of the grace, warmth, and community spirit she carried throughout her life.
Peggy dedicated 50 years to serving the Clayton community as a banker, working at First Citizens Bank and First Federal. She was known for her strong work ethic, her friendly spirit, and her unwavering willingness to help anyone who walked through the door. Whether assisting a customer, supporting a coworker, or offering a listening ear, Peggy approached every interaction with patience, generosity, and genuine care.
She had a special love for children and a natural gift for making them feel seen, safe, and cherished. Peggy’s giving spirit showed itself in quiet acts of kindness, thoughtful gestures, and a lifelong habit of putting others first. She made the world feel warmer simply by being in it.
Quick witted with a wonderful sense of humor, Peggy’s playful remarks and one liners could lighten any moment. She found joy in simple pleasures—working puzzle books, watching The Golden Girls, and sharing a story or laugh with anyone nearby.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Mel Gower, and his wife Heather, and Kevin Gower; her beloved grandchildren, Chloe, Brianna, Alexis, Kevin Jr., Brayden, and Skylar Gower; along with extended family, dear friends, and many in the community whose lives were touched by her kindness. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
Peggy will be remembered for her warmth, humor, generous heart, and the love she shared so freely. Her presence brought comfort and joy to those around her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In honoring Peggy’s life, may we carry forward her kindness, share her laughter, and love one another as generously as she did. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Peggy’s honor.
