

Retired SMSgt Richard Stuart Wood, 63, was suddenly called to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Born in Methuen, MA, he was the eldest of Stuart and Ethel Wood’s seven children. Richard, known to his many friends and family as a man of honor and integrity, served his country proudly with a long and distinguished career in the USAF. A veteran of both the Vietnam era and Gulf War, earning many medals of distinction including a Bronze Star, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Meritorious Service and Achievement Medals, he retired from active duty military service in 1996. During this remaining years he seized every opportunity to enjoy what he loved most in life – his wife and family, the outdoors, golfing, as well as the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox games. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eva-Maria Wood; children, Modesty Labbe, Kimberly Patrick, Roberta Broyles, Melanie Green, Stefanie Gutridge; siblings- Ronald Wood, Raymond Wood, Randy Wood, Ro-Ann Muteba, Roberta Bjorman; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Remembered fondly is Richard’s sister, Robin Nicholas, the first of Stuart and Ethel’s children to pass away. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 Thursday, August 18, 2016 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with burial to follow at 2:00pm at Sandhill’s State Veterans Cemetery.
