

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 18, 2026 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Pastor David Sutphin officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, immediately following the service.
Burial will occur at St. Charles Cemetery in Dover, New Hampshire at a later date.
He was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on September 18, 1930 to the late Walter Beverly Fernald and the late Edith M. Verity Fernald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Margaret Elaine Fernald; daughter, Donna L. Chick; and great grandson, Evan.
Mr. Fernald was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany. Bob was employed by Simplex Wire and Cable in Newington, New Hampshire for 38 years, retiring in 1992. After which he continued working part-time at Shaw’s Supermarket in Dover, New Hampshire, well into his 70’s. He enjoyed watching all sports on TV, especially the New England Patriots and golf. He was an avid Candlepin bowler, having a high score of 179. He loved to golf, playing his last round in Florida with his son and son-in-law, while in his 80’s. Bob enjoyed being outside, planting flowers and working on numerous projects around his home in Rochester, New Hampshire. He was well taken of while residing with Judy and Jim for the past 16 years. In his later years, he enjoyed watching TV, reading and creating beautiful adult coloring book pages until his eye-sight failed him. He also loved scratch tickets, snacks and afternoon beers with Jim.
He is survived by three children, Judy A. Slane (James), David R. Fernald (Sandi) and Janet L. Fernald; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
