Ruth F. “Rookie” Pleasant, 92, died Sunday, September 29, 2019 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Clayton with Dr. Randy Clipp and Dr. Mark White officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton.
Mrs. Pleasant was a loving wife to C.W Pleasant for 60 years until his death in 2006. She was also a loving, dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and a member of the First Baptist Church in Clayton since her childhood. She was a loyal homemaker for her family and a true friend to many people.
She is survived by her sons, Mike Pleasant and wife, Sylvia of Raleigh, Andy Pleasant and wife, Gloria of Clayton; grandchildren, Robert S. Pleasant, Kyle A. Pleasant and wife, Christina all of Clayton and Paige P. Whitaker and Husband, Blake of Garner. Great grandchildren, Katelyn Lowery of Raleigh, Abby, Logan, Brooklyn, and Ethan Pleasant of Clayton and Luke and Quinn Whitaker of Garner.
In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Clayton CDC Fund or Youth Ministry Fund, 411 North Fayetteville Street, Clayton, NC 27520.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Heartland Hospice Care as well as her caretakers, Darlene Jernigan, Alice Hill, Kimberly Browne, and Terri Brown.
The family will receive friends in the Church fellowship Hall from 10:00-11:30 prior to the service and at other times, at the home, 612 South Barbour Street, Clayton.
