Sarah Harper Beddingfield

Sarah Harper Beddingfield, 92, passed away Monday. Funeral service will be held 3:00 Friday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Mark White officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. She attended Campbell University and Appalachian University graduating with a bachelors degree in education. She taught school for many years and started the first kindergarten in Clayton. She was a valuable asset in starting many civic organizations in the Clayton area and a long time member of the First Baptist Church where she served on various committees and leadership positions. She was also a member of the Clayton Woman’s Club for many years. She is survived by her son, Ted Beddingfield and his wife Cindy, daughter, Joni Frye, grandchildren, Tara Beddingfield, Ashley Terry and Ryan Terry, a sister, Betty Christenbury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Beddingfield, sisters, Virginia Alexander, Janice Lane and Mary Louise Harper, brother, Jack Harper. While flowers are accepted memorial contributions may also be made to the First Baptist Church Organ Fund, PO box 35, Clayton, NC 27528 or to Transitions Hospice, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
