Sarah was born in Newhall, WV on June 5, 1925 to the late Hugh Taylor and Josie Marrs Asbury. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and a former member of Brushfork Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and her church family.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Dawson Ray and husband, Gerald; granddaughters, Angela Ray Canady and husband, Ray of Clayton NC, and Leigh Anne Ray Wall and husband, Jeremy of Willow Springs NC; great grandchildren, Jordan Canady, Tyler Canady, and Colt Wall; sister, Delora Smith of Gloucester, VA; and brothers, Alex Asbury, Hugh Asbury and wife, Linda of Gloucester, VA and Alfred Asbury of Rossville, GA. She had many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ray Dawson and son Gary Alan Dawson.
A celebration of her life will be Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 3pm in the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel, 12830 US HWY 70 Business West, Clayton, NC 27520. Interment at Knollwood Memorial Park will follow. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm at the funeral home.
