

Saúl Federico Garza passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at the age of 73, in Houston, Texas. He was born on March 2, 1953 in Matamoros, Tamps., raised in Brownsville, Texas, places he always carried in his heart.
Saúl proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Infantry from 1972 to 1975. He later continued his dedication to his country through his service in the Armed Forces from 1976 to 1993. His life was marked by courage, honor, and an unwavering commitment to duty.
A devoted Christian and proud veteran, Saúl lived a life guided by faith, discipline, and love. He leaves behind a lasting legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. It comforts us to know that he now rests in the eternal light of the Lord.
He showed his love through the care he gave to his faithful companion, his beloved dog SugarPie, who happily accompanied him for 15 years and will deeply miss him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cecilia Garza; his daughter, Mary Sansom, and her husband, Darren Sansom; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Mozingo, and her husband, Garrett Mozingo; his great-granddaughter, Sarah Rose Mozingo; as well as his siblings: Miguel Ángel, María Cristina, Rubén, Ana Norma, Roberto, Jorge Eduardo, and Raquel Aracely.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio Garza and Raquel Serrato; his first wife, Sarah Elizabeth Garza; and his siblings, Aurora Alicia, José Alfredo, Gregorio, and Rolando.
In honor of his faithful and dedicated service to his country, military honors will be rendered, symbolizing the farewell of a grateful nation to a brave and honorable veteran.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Iglesia Primeros Frutos Church located at 40 Dairy Rd Clayton, NC 27520. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm-7:00pm just prior to the service.
A graveside service with military honors will be held the following morning at 9:00am at Knollwood Memorial Park located at 4362 Hwy 70 Business in Clayton, NC 27520.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to God for the time they were blessed to share with Saúl and finds comfort in knowing that he is now free from pain and suffering.
