September 4, 1963 – February 7, 2026
Shelia Benson Acevedo, 62, went to her Heavenly home on February 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Shelia was a devoted wife, a loving and fiercely dedicated mother, and a proud meme whose family was truly the center of her world.
Shelia was a wonderful daughter and sister, always offering love, laughter, and support to those around her. She was the proud mother of her daughters, Natalie and Ginger, and her greatest joy came from her grandchildren—Addison, Avery, and Camden—who brought endless light and happiness into her life. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved pets, especially her dogs Elly Mae, Rhett, and Mia, and her cats Archie and Miss America, whom she adored as part of her family.
An avid animal lover, Shelia had a gentle and nurturing spirit that extended to everyone she met. She enjoyed shopping, refinishing furniture, and baking for the people she loved—always finding joy in creating something special for others. Her warmth, creativity, and selfless love will be remembered by all who knew her.
Shelia is survived by her father, Edward Benson of Clayton; her daughter, Ginger Waldschmidt, and husband Morey of Clayton; her sister, Darlene Parks, and husband Randy of Clayton; her grandchildren, Addison, Avery, and Camden Waldschmidt; her niece, Tonya Smith, and husband Patrick of Angier; her nephew, Blake Parks, and wife Cierra of Four Oaks; her cherished great-nieces and nephews, Jaden, Ally Grace, Talon, Blakely Ann, Darby, and Channing; as well as a loving extended family and many close friends who meant so much to her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 26 years, Guillermo Acevedo; her mother, Louise Benson; and her daughter, Natalie Dawn Wooten.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McLaurin Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., where family and loved ones will gather to honor and celebrate Shelia’s life.
Shelia’s legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
“It is well with my soul.”
