Susan Wood Brown

Susan Wood Brown went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2017. Her love for Jesus supported Susan and gave her peace. Born February 15, 1960 in Oxford, NC to Alton (Bo) Wood and the late Flora Harper Wood, Susan graduated from Clayton High School before going to work in the pharmaceutical industry for over twenty years and later became a full time homeschool teacher for her two daughters. Susan served the Lord at Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church and at Wilsons Mill’s Baptist Church. Susan started the Prayer Ministry at Wilsons Mill’s Baptist Church providing prayer support for the church family and also served in ministry to the homebound and in expanding the Baptismal Ministry. Susan was blessed with a loving and supportive husband, Gregg, and two daughters, Katie and Sara. Gregg and Susan were married for thirty-one years and enjoyed spending their time outdoors, camping and most recently time with the girls at the lake. Susan found her greatest joy in homeschooling Katie and Sara and supporting them in all that they do. She is survived by her husband, Gregg L. Brown and daughters, Katie Brown and Sara Brown of the home, her father, Alton (Bo) Wood and his wife Jo Ann of Clayton, brothers, Al Wood and his wife Joan of Elizabeth City, Robbie Wood and his wife Rhonda of Apex, a sister; Johanna Wood of Marshall, Alaska, nephew, Joshua Wood, nieces, Rebecca and Joylynn Wood. Susan is preceded in death by her mother, Flora Harper Wood of Clayton. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, March 31, 2017 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Rev. Billie Lawson officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00pm.
