Thomas “Tommy” Douglas Johnson, age 78, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the S.E.C.U. Hospice House in Smithfield after a courageous battle with cancer.

Military graveside rites will be held 2:00 PM Thurday, January 13, 2022 at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Due to covid restrictions, the family will receive friends following the service at the gravesite.

Tommy was born in Johnston County on March 5, 1943 to the late Kenneth Johnson and the late Kathleen Allen Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Johnson; and his son Tim Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sylvia Curl Johnson; one sister, Katie Johnson; a step daughter, Erika Sherrell and husband Patrick; and two step grandchildren, Peyton Sherrell and Greyson Sherrell.

McLaurin Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Johnson family.
