

Jill grew up in Beavercreek, Oregon, and spent her childhood on the ranch. Following her love for animals and ranching industry, Jill received a scholarship to judging livestock at Cal Poly State University in Sal Luis Obispo, California, receiving a Bachelor's of Science degree in 1987 in Agri-Business.
After graduation, Jill worked many years as a broker in the beef industry first working for Tyson Foods in Wichita, Kansas, followed by Smith Bros., of Seattle Washington and King Valley Beef of New Zealand.
Jill and her husband Robb moved to Cle Elum in 2004 and took in all the pleasures of living along-side the Yakima River. Being very familiar with Robb's favorite fishing holes Jill enjoyed being the oarsman on their "corporate yacht" treating many friends and business colleagues to excursions down the Yakima. A true outdoors woman, Jill was never intimidated when rushing river flood waters swirled around her home or when dealing with boisterous cattlemen.
Jill's many friends enjoyed her witty and direct sense of humor. She was also in a league of her own when it came to cooking and entertaining. A passionate chef, she loved treating friends and family to wonderful dinners.
An avid and competitive golfer, Jill loved to tease her golfing buddies with the fact that she had scored not one, but two, aces on hole #15 -- Sun Country's par 3 cliff hole. She loved to win.
Jill was preceded in death by her very beloved father Wade Smith and her black lab Reba. She is survived by her husband Robb Mackie and her black lab Roxy, mother and stepfather Eugenia Smith Hagan and Harry Hagen of Grants Pass, Oregon, sister Merridee Wells, her husband Tom and nephews Wade and Zachery Wells of Hamilton, Texas.
