

Patricia Claire Chapman de la Torre, age 71, passed away at her home in Cle Elum, WA, on April 11, 2015, lovingly surrounded by her family. The cause of death was ovarian cancer, which had metastasized in its 9th year.
Patricia was born in Saint Louis, MO, and moved to Tujunga, CA, at age nine. Patricia attended college at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, majoring in Mathematics. For two years Patricia worked at UCLA as a statistician, then began her teaching career at Mount Gleason Junior High instructing math.
Upon moving to Washington State, Patricia taught for twenty-two years in the Cle Elum Roslyn School District, instructing fourth grade, Chapter One/LAP, Remedial Reading, and high school math. Patricia served on CEREA (Cle Elum Roslyn Education Association) as President Elect, President, Past President, and Negotiator. She also served at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church as lector, Eucharistic Minister, Altar Society member and CCD teacher.
Patricia enjoyed reading, swimming, walking, crocheting, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful and generous mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. Patricia is survived by her ten siblings, George, Mary, Robert, Margaret, Eileen, Bridget, Mike, John, Nola, and Terry; her four children, Doug, Clara, Nick and Rachel; her ex-husband Tony; and her five grandchildren, Riley, Austin, Dominic, Ava and Amber.
Rosary service will be held 7:00pm Friday April 24, 2015, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Cle Elum, WA. The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Saturday April 25, 2015, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, followed by interment at the Laurel Hill Memorial Park, and a 1:00pm Celebration of Life potluck at the Cle Elum Roslyn Elementary School multipurpose room. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CEREA teacher scholarship fund or to the Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church roof fund.
