Barbara Ausel

Barbara B. Ausel, 84, of Clearfield, passed away Wednesday, April 2nd 2014 at Penn Highlands Hospital - Clearfield. She was the wife of John P. Ausel of Clearfield for over 60 years, having been married October 30, 1953 in Rouseville, PA.

Born August 26, 1929 in Oil City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe Warren Barnes and Roselia (Aares) McKinley, she was raised by her grandmother Myra Barnes.

Mrs. Ausel was a member of the Westside United Methodist Church, Clearfield. She was employed by Clearfield Furs, the Holiday Inn Clearfield as a Hostess, and the Clearfield Hospital as a Unit Clerk.

Barbara was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Clearfield. She was a 1946 graduate of Oil City High School. Barbara was especially proud of earning her pilot license by soloing in a Piper Cub, with her husband as instructor. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed crocheting and sewing, and was very devoted to her family.

Surviving in addition to her husband, is a daughter and son: Jill E. Ausel of Pittsburgh, PA; John E. Ausel of Sigel, PA; granddaughter: Katie A. Penoyer and her husband Bradley S., of Clearfield; 3 great-grandchildren: Benjamin Leighow, Addison and Avanelle Penoyer; and a step sister: Lynda Reimann of Buffalo, NY.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-brother Charles Barnes.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Barbara B. Ausel will be at 12:00 noon Monday, April 7th, 2014 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust Street, Clearfield PA 16830 with Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be that Monday, from 10:00 -12:00 noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Donahey Hills Cemetery, Millstone Twp., Elk County.
