My wife, Sara, and I send our condolences to Mike, Ed, and Dave and to their families.  My aunt Connie was one of the nicest people I ever knew. ..very giving, very considerate with a great sense of humor and a great cook of Italian food.  She was a Campanini and loved her family; she often talked about her father who she adored.   

She married my uncle, Richard Horak, in 1953 and in some ways became  the Horak family historian in recent years after all her Horak sisters-in-law and uncle Richard passed away.   She had been very close to her mother-in law-Anna Horak who she also adored.

In the past few years, I came to know Connie better because of our mutual love of old movies.  Anytime I noticed that a really good movie was going to be on television (usually on the Turner
channel), I would call her and we would talk about it.  She especially loved Casablanca (she knew most of the dialogue) and any Jamie Stewart movie.  The Spirit of St. Louis was her favorite.

She was a valuable link to the past.  We used to discuss Reynoldsville during the Depression, her meeting Richard in school, her father's store, Richard working very hard at the  grocery store, her recollections of the Horak family,   her move with Richard  and the boys to Franklin and then Clearfield.  She remembered it all 'til' the very end.    She was a wonderful aunt who is missed.

Connie and her family were our neighbors growing up. She was a good friend w my Mom. When Mom passed I continued to visit Connie.
She was caring and loving and filled a void. We also shared our faith and prayed for each other.
Connie was a caring person who kept in touch w her family and  many friends and was an encourager with a listening ear.
I will miss her & remember her always.

Dear Dave, Ed, & Mike,

I have so many memories to share - some specifically about Aunt Connie, and some about the family in general:

* Of course, there were the annual Thanksgiving Days with your mom hosting. Always a highlight of the year.
* The many Fair week visits, the cable car and Sky Wheel rides, Sammy's Steaks and all the other good food; the farm animals, and the parade.
* I recall being confused as to why no one was allowed to use the same bath towel to dry off more than once without laundering it.
* I invited your mom to come to Pittsburgh for an acoustic Dan Fogelberg concert that was nothing short of magical and intimate.
* Later, I believe during the same visit, she heard me play for her, on the piano (from memory), Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. When I turned around at its conclusion, the mascara was running and dripping off of her face.
* Finally, and this one's an insider reference, I recall you, Dave, introducing me to the concept and condition of "Ping Pong Syndrome," and darn if I wasn't also its victim.

I'm not sure why, but there was a unique and close bond between your mom and me. This may be at least partially due to two facts--when I was being born, she was having or recovering from surgery for thyroid cancer (nearly 63 years ago); and I was very close with her youngest son (that's you Dave) :-)

I also remember many good impersonations and some memorable jokes (e.g. a certain Italian woman in a movie theater and a sailor who was stillness-impaired). I also remember paintings entered in the art competition at the fair, and some awards thereof. I recall "Onie Deek" having a fondness for marching band music (an interest I share along with a rather eclectic palette of genres). And, I remember mutual visits with Nana and Papa.

A lifetime of great memories and, though you guys and I are separated by time and distance, none of you are ever far from my thoughts, as was true of your mom and dad as well.

The thing I remember most about Aunt Connie and Onie (Uncle) Dick is that going to their house for visits, especially Thanksgiving, was that they were my closest and favorite relatives  and Michael, Ed and Dave were my fun cousins. And I always loved going to their house. I remember staying there some summers overnight and getting to go to the Fair with them. And also going to parades. I remember Aunt Connie being sweet and loving to me as I was her "adopted" girl as she had 3 boys. Been a long time! Over the years we all moved away and never see each other. But I have fond memories of my times with The Horak's. Love them all. Miss them too!

always enjoyed my visits with Connie when I delivered her meds to her from clearfield pharmacy. No matter how she felt she always had a positive outlook and a smile.  I know her goal was to live to be 90 and she succeeded. She will be dearly missed.

It is with a heavy heart and many fond memories that I want to extend our deep sympathy to Mike, Ed and Dave Horak and families over the recent loss of Connie. She was such a good friend to so many of us ever since our early days at Riverside. I always felt I was working for both Dick and Connie while at the Market, and I was very happy with that! She had the seemingly effortless ability to make you feel special about yourself. I respected her clear thinking, "straight talk" and devotion to family. She will definitely be truly missed! Her photo with Dick that is posted at the beginning of this site says it all!

Connie has been a shining star in my life since the 70's when I worked at Riverside Market for her husband Richard.  She shared her famous lasagna recipe and confided to me that she really didn't like tomato sauce.  There was never a time when she failed to make my husband Tom and I  feel special, confident, and loved with her beautiful smile, and amazing love of life.  I will miss her forever.  I know the angels are singing today, and if I know Connie, she is directing the choir.  Fly high dear Connie, till we meet again.  

Have known Connie since she moved to Clearfield.  Shared many moments with her through those years.  Many emails and long phone conversations.   And card clubs..she will be missed . Will be keeping her and her family in my prayers

I remember her great meatballs.  She always told me she put pork in with her meatballs.  She also made me many computer-generated cards through the years.  The cards meant a lot to me.
