

Born September 14, 1921 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Dorse and Florence (Ogden) Lytle.
Ethel graduated from Clearfield High School in 1939. During World War II, she worked in Williamsport in the defense industry.
On December 24, 1941, she married Ralph Mayhew, who preceded her in death on January 1, 1985.
Ethel is survived by two sons; Nicholas and his wife Hilda of Clearfield and Jonathan and his wife, Joyce of Xenia, Ohio, a daughter-in-law Becky Mayhew of Canonsburg, PA., and ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, a brother, Keith Lytle of San Antonio, Texas.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel was preceded in death by a son, Kelly B. Mayhew and two sisters, Helen (Honey) Werdal and Eleanor Kester.
During the 1960’s – 70’s, Ethel was active in the Eastern Star, organist at the Centre Grove U.M.C. and worked full time at the hospital snack bar. She also enjoyed quilting in retirement.
Honoring Mrs. Mayhew’s wishes there will be no public visitation.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church, Clearfield at 11:00AM with Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Interment was held in the Crown Crest Memorial Park.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 409, Clearfield, PA or the charity of the donor’s choice.
