She was born on March 18,1937 in Clearfield, the daughter of Omer and Eleanor (Wisor) Williams.
On July 16,1953 Jeri wed Duane C. Sloppy in the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Woodland, PA. The couple celebrated 68 years of marriage prior to Duane’s passing on May 8, 2021.
Jeri was a homemaker but may be remembered by many for selling Shaklee vitamins and household products. In 1972, she founded her own non-profit organization, Orphans of the Storm, a program to help spay and neuter pets and place stray animals. This venture broadened her ability to start conversations with total strangers. Jeri’s friendly conversation always left smiles on the faces of those she would converse.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Jeri attended the Clearfield Alliance Church where she served as a Deaconess. She also taught Sunday school for several years, but Vacation Bible School for many more. Jeri had the ability to make children feel special about themselves and respected each one. She had a great deal of empathy and tried to see things from the other person’s point of view, whether the person was a child or an adult. Jeri was also Judge of Election in Bradford Township for many years.
Jeri loved her God, reading the Bible, and being involved with her family. Besides her love of cooking and baking, she enjoyed the beauty and fragrance of Peonies.
Jeri is survived by two children, Dennis J. Sloppy (Donna), Woodland, Denise F. Turner-Machtel (Jack), Clearfield, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, Steven Sloppy (Children: Logan and Lyla), Jennifer Sloppy (Children: Andrew and Jeffrey), Daniel Sloppy, Shannon Gill (Jason) and (Children: Jaylee, Owen, Luke and Trey), and Sherry Colton (Mike) and (Children: Ty and Brielle).
She is the last member of her generation having been preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Judy Eberts.
