

She was born on July 16, 1917 in Olean, NY, the daughter of Benjamin and Lillian (Hamilton) Gardner.
Helen was retired from the Clearfield Hospital as a cook.
She was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church. She was a former Sunday school teacher and head teacher in the Kindergarten Department. She had belonged to the United Methodist Woman and an afternoon Circle.
Helen was an earthly saint, who was well known for her generosity. She was a giver of herself and time and everyone loved Helen and was blessed to have been her friend.
She was a former member of the Clearfield Hospital Woman’s Auxiliary and Third Ward Hose Company Woman’s Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by three children; Dolores Jordan and her husband, Bernard of Woodland, Charles W. Carter and his fiancée, Carole Brown of Curwensville, and Lorna Simcox and her husband, George of Curwensville, nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and a number of great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, David W. Carter whom she married on May 1939 and who passed away on November 6, 1981, one brother, Walter Gardner and three sisters; Dorothy Hamilton, Marjorie Morrison and Genevieve Collins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19 , 2013 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., Clearfield at 11:00 A.M. with Rev Dr. Joleen A. Willis and Helen’s granddaughter, Pastor Brenda Libreatori co-officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, April 18th, from 6-8PM and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the services at 11:00 A.M.
