

Mrs. Spencer was born November 30, 1941 in Clearfield, the daughter of Shannon W. and Helen C. (McDowell) Newpher.
She was a homemaker and had worked at the former Sears and Roebuck and Leitzinger Department Stores in Clearfield.
Mrs. Spencer was an avid bowler and in 1959 was named “Betty Crocker’s Homemaker of Tomorrow” by General Mills.
She is survived by her husband James Edward Spencer, Sr. whom she married on April 8, 1961, two children; Susan C. Lanich and her husband, Paul and James E. Spencer, Jr. and his wife, Connie all of Clearfield, four grandchildren; Heather Wicker and her husband, Andy, James Spencer III, Brianna Spencer and Ryan Spencer, five great grandchildren; Martina Westcott, Tyleo Saudarg, Andrew Wicker, Jr. and Angeleena Wicker, three brothers and a sister; Bill Newpher and his wife, Connie of Texas, Judi Crosby of Delaware, Dick Newpher and his wife, Nancy of Pennsylvania and Lewis Newpher and his fiancée, Lisa Pham of Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Martha Flood and two brother-in-laws; Gary Flood and Bill Crosby.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Scott Schultz officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, April 14th from 2-4 and 7-9PM and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of services at 11:00 A.M.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
