Helen Louise Turley

Born on February 6, 1928 in Silver Creek, NY she was the daughter of Ernest and Nina May (Gens) Davis.

Helen graduated from Silver Creek High School, Silver Creek, NY and Hagerstown Business College, Hagerstown, MD where she studied accounting. Upon graduation, she was employed as a bookkeeper. Helen worked for a number of CPA firms throughout her career.

On November 25, 1953, Helen married Roland Turley in Erie, PA. Together they raised five children, who survive, Dr. Rebecca Summers and her husband, Luis of North Versailles, PA, Leann Turley, of West Decatur, Diane DiFante and her husband, Archie of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, Robin Barry and her companion, Mark Warner of Meadville, PA and Michael Turley and his wife, Pamela of Prospect, PA; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Helen is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was the last of her generation. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers.

Helen was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Allport, PA and also attended Westside United Methodist Church, Clearfield. She was an ardent volunteer for both churches. She was a member of Clearfield Order of the Eastern Star Lodge, and had served as the Worthy Matron. Helen volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, through AARP, doing tax preparation.

In her retirement, Helen and her husband, Roland traveled throughout all of the 50 states, Europe, and South Korea.

The family will receive friends in The Bennett & Houser Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. An Eastern Star Service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, with Rev. Julia Piper officiating. Interment will be in Huntly Cemetery, Cameron County.
