Though he had been in declining health for many years, Jim still found ways to enjoy life. He enjoyed playing cribbage with his buddies and exploring local antique shops. He was a talented wood carver, and spent many hours on his projects. He graduated from Penn State Dubois in 1992 and was a vocal supporter of the Penn State Nittany Lions. He loved going home to Clearfield to go to camp "Poverty Hill".
Born on November 2, 1937, he was the only child of the late J. Bernard Owens and Josephine Houser Owens Cowder.
Jim is survived by his wife, the former Deanna Foor, two sons, J. Brett Owens of Bigler, PA and J. Brian Owens and his wife Stephanie of Delran, NJ. Also surviving are his two beloved grandchildren: Jason B. Owens of Burlington, NJ and Katelyn J. Smith of Clearfield, PA. Jim felt truly blessed to live to see his three great-granddaughters, Nora and Eloise Owens and Maddielyn Smith.
