William D. Potts

Mr. William David Potts, of New York, New York, passed from this life on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at The Juniper Village at Brookline, State College, PA.

William was born on November 12, 1939, the son of the late David B. and Grayce E. Potts.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Kenneth L. Lezzer, sister, Julia R. Potts, brother John H. Potts and great niece, Madeline G. Potts.

He is survived by his sisters, Betsy Lezzer, of Curwensville and Marty (Jack) Eshelman, of Daniels, W.Va.; his brother, Timothy (Karen) Potts, of Clearfield and his sister-in-law Nancy Potts also of Clearfield. Also surviving Bill are his nieces, Linda (Scott) Moore, of Rockton, Julie (Chuck) Seighman, of State College, Diane (Tim) Holland, of Curwensville, Kelly (Tom) Williams, of Beckley, W.Va.; Kerri (Scott) Shepherd, of Beckley, W.Va., Susan (Jon) Mikesell and Becky (Andy) Brickley, all of Clearfield. Surviving nephews are KC (Amy) Lezzer, of Clearfield, Kevin Eshelman, of Buckhannon, W.Va.; David (Lisa) Potts, of Hyannis Port, Mass. and Daniel (Stephanie) Potts, of Hope Valley, R.I. In addition, Bill is survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Clearfield Area High School with the class of 1957, Bill continued his education at Duquesne University graduating in 1961. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from1961-1965. In 1966 Bill joined the Bankers Trust Bank and worked his way to the position of Director of South American accounts until his retirement in 2005.

Bill loved his family very much and valued the friendships he made throughout his career dearly.

Bill’s request for cremation was honored and a celebration of his life will be held on April 11th at 11:00 am at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home in Clearfield PA with Rev. Denise Haskins officiating. Graveside services will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Clearfield, where Bill be buried next to his sister Julia. Military Honors will be conducted by the Clearfield Area Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation in Bill’s name to the donor’s choice of charity.
