It is with deep sadness and heartfelt gratitude that we announce the passing of Allen Stern Braswell, Sr., age 87, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Allen’s journey was marked by faith, family, hard work, philanthropy, and his passions for fishing and golf. Allen was born on November 26, 1936, in Sylvester, Georgia, to Herman and Nadine Braswell. After graduating from Sylvester High School in 1954, he asked his childhood sweetheart, Cassie Ann Twitty, to marry him. The two shared a beautiful love story, having known each other since Allen was just 11 years old. The newlyweds moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, where Allen served his country at Keesler Air Force Base, teaching radar systems over four dedicated years. With the support of his G.I. Bill benefits, Allen went on to attend Georgia Tech University, graduating at the top of his class in 1960 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. “Goooo Jackets!” he would proudly say. In 1963, Allen and Cassie moved to Clearwater, Florida, where they raised their four children and continued to build a life rich in love, adventure, and service. Allen spent 17 years working with Honeywell before following his entrepreneurial spirit, founding Circuit Test, Inc., in 1980. What began as a small Tampa business with just three employees grew to a national operation of over 1,000 employees, eventually earning the title of Small Business of the Year by the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce. In 1997, Allen retired, having left an indelible mark on the business world, and he and Cassie divided their time between Clearwater and their second home in Waynesville, North Carolina. In both communities, Allen remained deeply involved, supporting causes close to his heart. Allen was a founding member of the Long Center in Clearwater and a generous supporter of Morton Plant Hospital and Clearwater for Youth. His philanthropic efforts extended to Waynesville, where he supported local hospitals and provided scholarships for students in need. Allen’s heart for service was boundless, and he cherished giving back to the communities he loved. After faith and family, Allen’s greatest passions were fishing and golf. He was a proud member of the 40-Inch Snook Club, and his love for golf was legendary, marked by an incredible 8 “hole-in-ones.” Year-round, he could be found on the green, enjoying the peace and camaraderie that brought him so much joy. Allen’s legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Cassie, his four children, Allen, Jr. (Dawn), Beth (Chris), Bruce (Autumn), and Amy (T.J.), as well as his nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
To know Allen was to love him. His family and friends take great comfort in knowing that he is now with his friend and Redeemer, our Lord Jesus Christ. At this time, there are no immediate plans for a celebration of life, as the family takes the time to make arrangements that honor Allen’s remarkable legacy.
