Beatrice "Bea" J (Rocchi) Tokar, formerly known as Beatrice Johnson, age 82, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at her home in Clearwater, FL. Bea was born in Chicago to parents John and Rose Rocchi. She would move with her family to Evergreen Park, Illinois where she was raised. At the young age of 4, Bea unfortunately lost her hearing from a medical illness. Despite this hardship, becoming deaf never held her back from life. Bea graduated from Chicago Vocational School and received a full scholarship to Northwestern University. Bea worked as a Computer Operator at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital. She married her first husband, Jack Johnson, and they had two sons: Michael and Brian. Unfortunately, her husband Jack passed away in 1984.
Beatrice would find love again, and she married William Tokar in 1987. After over 20 years of working at the hospital, Beatrice was able to retire at the age of 50. Her and her husband William would move to sunny Florida in 1999 to enjoy their retirement years and spend quality time with their 3 grandchildren.
Beatrice enjoyed many things in life, she was a huge advocate for the deaf community, she enjoyed making ceramics, she was a very talented artist, she loved ladybugs, halloween was her favorite holiday and she would go all out with the decorations, she decorated her home like a boutique where she proudly displayed all of her knick-knacks she made and collected, she loved traveling up to Chicago to visit her friends and family, she was a dog and cat lover, most of all she loved spending time with her friends and family. Beatrice will be dearly missed and will be remembered for her kind heart and beautiful warm loving spirit.
Bea is survived by her loving husband of 37 years William Tokar, sons Michael Johnson and Brian (wife Eleanor) Johnson, grandchildren Adam , Isabelle, and Andrew. She is preceded in death by her beloved first husband Jack Johnson, parents John and Rose Rocchi, and brother Jack Rocchi.
