Brian Kammerer Torrey passed away at home from complications of multiple sclerosis. He was born in Oneonta, NY, the son of the late Arthur Torrey, Sr. and Joan (Kammerer) Torrey.
Brian graduated from Oneonta High School and Rochester Institute of Technology. He worked for several newspapers in Albany, NY, as a typesetter, before moving to Decatur, IL. While in Decatur, he met his first wife, April (Baas). They moved to Florida and established a business, Torrey Typesetting. After his diagnosis, Brian sold the business and retired. One of his greatest joys in life was watching the next generation of children in the family. Brian is survived by his mother, Joan Torrey, Clearwater, FL, brothers: Arthur (Barbara) Torrey, Jr. of Oneonta, NY, Damon Torrey of Holiday, FL, and Eric Torrey of Alpharetta, GA. Also surviving are niece, Erica (Christopher) Slonaker of Oneonta, NY, nephews Adam (Jessica) Torrey of Westford, MA, Andrew Torrey and Amanda Fenton of Spring Hill, FL, Justin Torrey of Panama City, FL, great nieces, Charlotte Torrey and Grace Slonaker, and great nephews, Jackson Torrey and Declan Torrey.
He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Torrey, Sr., brother, Craig Torrey, wife, April (Baas), daughter, Andrea who was the love of his life, and wife, Barbara (Lucks).
The family wishes to thank his caregivers, especially Sherry Hargett and Julie and Keith Contessa for the many years of compassionate care.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Private services were held at Sylvan Abbey, Clearwater, FL.
