Carl served his country by entering the Navy right out of high school. He earned the Good Conduct Medal at the time he was honorably discharged. During his service, he met the love of his life through a mutual friend while stationed in Puerto Rico. They went on one blind date and the rest is a well known history for anyone who had the pleasure of meeting them. They were married May 27,1951 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. They raised four beautiful children. Life took them all over. They lived in Puerto Rico, St. Croix, Oklahoma, and finally settled in Florida. Carl and Ofelia were married for an amazing 66 years.
Carl worked for the federal government for 32 years. He started off maintaining radar equipment as an electrician and then worked his way up through the ranks. He enjoyed working with his hands, and he took an interest in ceramics, which eventually led to a woodworking hobby. He enjoyed making furniture, small toys and knick knacks for his grandchildren.
