

Carolyn “Lynn” Martha Peters McLaren, 78, of Clearwater, passed away Thursday, February 7th, 2013, at Morton Plant Hospital. Lynn was born at Tampa General Hospital to Carolyn Slocum Peters and P. Hubert Peters. When she grew up in Clearwater she was a member of Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church. She graduated Clearwater High School in 1953 and Stetson University, Deland, Fla., in 1958. After college she taught at North Ward Elementary and Belleair Elementary. After raising her family, she taught second grade and music at St. Paul’s School, Clearwater. Lynn also worked as a Real Estate Agent for Bobby Byrd Realty.
Lynn was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity, GFWC Clearwater Community Woman’s Club, and Clearwater Historical Society. Lynn was an accomplished soprano vocalist and sang with the choir and performed solo at her home church, Trinity Presbyterian, and many other venues. She also performed in many plays with the Royalty Players (now City Players). Lynn enjoyed working on and attending her High School Reunions, the Historical Society’s Fish Fry, and really loved playing bridge with friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Henry and Robert. Lynn is survived by her devoted husband, David, of almost 49 years (April 3, 1964); son, Peter; his wife, Cindee; daughter, Carrie; her husband, Charles Star; son, Paul; his wife, Karla; four grandsons, Malcolm, Sidney, Wesley and Brad. The family would like to thank all the many friends that have helped Lynn and David over the past years.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 15, 6pm-8pm, at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Rd, Clearwater, and funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1pm, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2001 Rainbow Dr., Clearwater, with interment to follow near her parents at Dunedin Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clearwater.
