Carroll Dee Gorrell

Carroll Dee Gorrell, age 81, of Largo, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025. A man of unwavering strength, integrity, and heart, Carroll left a legacy rooted in family, service, and hard work.

Originally from Oklahoma, Carroll relocated to Florida in 1987, bringing with him a deep work ethic and an engineer’s mind. He joined Kemco Systems in 1984, where his dedication and leadership helped him lead the purchase of the company in 2005. He served as its proud owner until his retirement in 2016.

In 1964, he married the love of his life, Linda Simmons. Over 61 years of marriage, Carroll and Linda built a beautiful life together—raising two children, exploring the world, and cherishing every moment.

Carroll was a devoted husband, a steady and supportive father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, loving brother and a loyal friend. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: restoring classic cars, watching football and NASCAR, hitting the open road, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Carroll is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Linda Gorrell; children, Michael (Jo-Ann) Gorrell, Cheryl Kolley; brother Charles (Margaret) Gorrell; grandchildren, Zachary (Kate) Gorrell, Calvin (Cilma) Gorrell, Walter (Yu-Gin Kim) Gorrell, Henry Gorrell, Joseph Gorrell, Amie Campbell; great-grandchildren, Michael Gorrell, Marie Gorrell, Nora Gorrell, Niah Gorrell, Alexander Campbell and Locke Campbell. He is also remembered with love by many extended family members and friends.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, William and Willie Gorrell; siblings: Peggy Jo Gorrell, Jimmy Lloyd Gorrell, and Thomas Keith Gorrell.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1-2pm, followed by the funeral service on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759.

In honor of Carroll’s generous spirit, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
