

Mrs. Vitanyi, age 83, of Longwood, FL, was exactly 1,000 months old when she passed away on January 23, 2019 in Allen, Texas. She was born on September 27, 1935 in Long Branch, New Jersey, the daughter of Margaret Johnson Tilton, and Howard Tilton of Rumson, New Jersey, affectionately earning her the nickname “Tillie” at Holy Cross School, and later Rumson High School, where she graduated in 1953.
Catherine was married in 1957 to William R. Vitanyi of Trenton at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Trenton. William passed at home in Oviedo, Florida in 2008.
Catherine and William are survived by four children: Patricia Henk, married to Robert Henk of Baltic, CT, and their three children, Sherri, Kim and Casey, William Jr., married to Kayoko of Edinboro, PA, and their three children, Jennifer, William and Sean, Mary Freeman, married to Greg Freeman of Allen, TX, and their three children, Ashley, Alyssa and Angela, and Ann Steinke, married to Drew Steinke of Longwood, FL, and their two children, Chad and Rachel. Another child, Paul, passed in August of 1983.
Catherine, a member of Annunciation Church in Altamonte Springs, FL, was a devout Catholic. She served her community as a medical secretary for many years. She enjoyed romance novels, and maintained a set of handbells which she collected over the course of her lifetime. Her family remembers her as the chef of a unique Hungarian cheese, which was a staple of holiday meals and took hours to make.
A Private family service will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
