Born in Dixon, Illinois to Clifford H. and Shirlee, Scott was the eldest of 4 children and worked in their family restaurant where he met his first wife, Marsha. They married for over 41 years and had two children. Scott served his country in the Air Force until his honorable discharge, and then worked several decades as an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA. In true parrothead fashion, Scott and Marsha retired and moved to Florida to take on their new roles as Papa and Mee-Maw to their twin grandsons. After Marsha’s passing, Scott found love again with his high school sweetheart, Sherry, even after several decades had passed since they last spoke. Scott and Sherry married in 2016 and shared the last 6 years together with their families in both Florida and Tennessee. Scott was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed hosting family cookouts and pool days that always included all the family dogs and Pootie the bird, and having the golf channel on every TV in the house.
Scott is survived by his loving wife Sherry; his son, Michael; his daughter, Meghann (Tim) Herrmann; his stepson, Steve Rychlik; his siblings, Debra Mulbarger Orenic, Melissa (Dan) Caligiuri, and Marc (Terri); his grandsons Reese and Ryder; and his many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by Marsha, Clifford, Shirlee, and William “Buck”.
Scott’s family will receive visitors at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor on Thursday, May 11 beginning at 9:45 a.m. with a mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. After mass, a reception will be held at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.sylvanabbey.com for the Mulbarger family.
