

David Duane Harding (Big Daddy Race Man and AKA The VIP), age 81, of Clearwater, Florida entered Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. David was born September 11, 1936 in Woodbury, New Jersey and moved to Clearwater in the 1970’s. David was a retired foreman and electrical engineer for the City of Clearwater for 23 years. He also served in the Navy and the Reserves for a combined tenor of 12 years. David had many hobbies such as photography, gardening, wood crafting and dragster car racing. He established a world record in Chicago, Ilinois in the 1950’s for dragster racing (self made blower injection system) for the 1/4 mile at 161 MPH. David was a member of the Countryside Baptist Church since 1992 and enjoyed participating in the bible study program.
He was a loving husband to Paula Sue Harding of 35 years and a caring father to Dana Harding, (Anthony), Debra Harding (Jeffrey), David D. Harding Jr., and Donna Harding (Eric). He is also survived by his two step children Melanie Hudgins and Christopher Forrester, three grandsons (David, Tyler, Tanner), one great grandson (Jaxson) and five step grand children (Ashley, Hillary, Rachel, Khristian, and Beth).
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM in Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home. Graveside services will be on Thursday, April 5, at 10:00 AM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Clearwater, Florida.
