Delia -- called either Nana or Dee by those who knew her and loved her -- was born in Bauta, Cuba on August 10, 1929, to Adelieda and Sibero Guanche. Dee's father's family came to Cuba from the Canary Islands and her mother's family immigrated from Spain. Dee was the middle child of five siblings -- Sibio, Raul, Nereida (known as Nettie), and Caridad (known as Caddie).
George Watson, a Methodist minister hailing from Roanoke, Virginia, met Dee while on a preaching mission to Cuba. They were married in Bauta on April 30, 1958. Dee moved to the United States with George and they settled in Virginia. George's vocation as a minister ultimately brought them to Florida. Delia is survived by her children, Christina Sue Campbell, Rebecca Darlene Reynolds (James), and Harry Rhaul Watson (Lou Ann); by her grandchildren, Paul Campbell (Brenda), Peter Campbell (Caroline), Megan Jo Reynolds Pence (Brandon), Victoria Watson, Gabrielle Watson, and George Cooper Watson, III; and her great-grandchildren, Chandler Campbell, Carter Campbell, Anna Campbell, and Calley Campbell. Dee deeply loved her family, and she will be greatly missed by them.
Dee was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. One of her favorite Bible verses was Psalm 23, and she found comfort in the story of Naomi and Ruth.
Delia's family is thankful that here is no more earthly pain or sorrow for Dee, only joy, praise, and rest in her Lord and Savior. Alleluia to the Lord!
A graveside service for Dee will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759.
